In the late hours of a Saturday in Twin Falls, Idaho, the life of 24-year-old Miguel Eszuval was tragically cut short. On August 29, 2020, authorities responded to a call of a shooting in an alley near the 300 block of Washington Street North. Upon arrival, they discovered Eszuval, a resident of Jerome, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. The Twin Falls County Coroner's Office later confirmed his identity.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led Twin Falls Police to a
suspect. In the early morning hours of August 31, 2020, officers, in collaboration with the Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office and the Twin Falls County Prosecutor's Office, located and arrested 23-year-old Miguel Antonio Alarcon at a local motel. Alarcon, also a resident of Jerome, was taken into custody without incident.
Following his arrest, a warrant for first-degree murder was issued for Alarcon in connection with Eszuval's death. The prompt actions of law enforcement brought a swift, initial resolution to the case, with a suspect in custody within two days of the fatal shooting that ended a young man's life.
