Holly Louise Banks, a 28-year-old White woman, was a mother of three who had moved to Gorham, New Hampshire, just a year before her death to be closer to her family. Born in Putnam, Connecticut, and raised in Massachusetts as part of a military family, Holly was a veteran of the US Army. She was remembered as a free-spirited and independent woman who loved nature and hiking and always put her children first.
On April 27, 2022, police were called to Holly's residence on North Main Street,
where they made a grim discovery. Inside the home, they found Holly and a 42-year-old acquaintance, Keith LaBelle, both deceased. An autopsy later determined that both had died from gunshot wounds, and the New Hampshire Chief Medical Examiner ruled their deaths as homicides. The quiet residential street was suddenly the scene of a double murder investigation that shocked the community.
The investigation into the violent deaths of Holly Banks and Keith LaBelle soon led law enforcement to a suspect. Several months later, in July 2022, Craig Keville, a 33-year-old former resident of Berlin, New Hampshire, was apprehended in Arlington, Massachusetts. He was taken into custody by the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section on an arrest warrant and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the killings.
In late February 2024, a jury found Craig Keville guilty of two counts of murder, as well as falsifying evidence and assault. Following the conviction, New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella stated that the verdict delivered "justice for Holly Banks and Keith LaBelle, and our hearts go out to their families and all those who knew and loved them."
On April 5, 2024, Keville was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole for the murders. He received additional time for the other convictions. As of April 2024, the case is closed.
