On the morning of August 19, 2019, the life of Adrian J. Shepard, a 34-year-old Black / African American man from East Providence, Rhode Island, was cut short by violence. Around 7:30 a.m., reports of gunfire echoed in the area of Eddy and Porter Streets in Providence. When police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Shepard inside his vehicle, suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. The driver's side window of his SUV was shattered, with glass scattered across the ground.
