On October 16, 2016, 29-year-old Vincent Von Brewer III was fatally shot in front of the SuAnne Big Crow Center in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. The assailants, Francisco Villanueva and Adan Corona, both from Denver, Colorado, shot Brewer 15 times with an assault rifle and a 9mm handgun as he attempted to flee.
