Marquiez Dewayne Lawrence, a 25-year-old Black male from Columbus, OH, tragically died on February 17, 2021, after being shot multiple times at an apartment complex on the city's Northeast Side. Lawrence was transported to Mount Carmel East hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Witnesses reported seeing a male suspect, also Black, firing shots at Lawrence before fleeing in a black Chrysler 300.
Lawrence was known for his big heart and dedication to his family and community.
He was an entrepreneur, running BBY Kasyn’s Trucking and Hauling and The Gangway Clothing Line, and was a beloved basketball player and father to a young daughter. His untimely death left a significant void in the lives of those who knew him.
The investigation into Lawrence's murder remains ongoing. Columbus police have been actively seeking information about the suspect and the vehicle used in the crime. Despite efforts to gather evidence and identify the perpetrator, the case remains unsolved, and the family continues to seek justice for Marquiez Lawrence.
