In what was described as a tragic turn of events, 25-year-old Dylan James Myers, a White male, was found deceased in his Bismarck, North Dakota, home on August 23, 2022. A former resident of Metropolis, Illinois, Myers was an avid outdoorsman and a veteran of the United States Army. After his military service, he pursued a career as a Field Service Engineer, repairing and maintaining diagnostic imaging equipment, which brought him to the Bismarck area.
On that Tuesday afternoon, law
enforcement officers were dispatched to Myers' residence on Renee Drive after receiving multiple requests for welfare checks from concerned family members. Upon entering the home, they discovered the bodies of both Dylan Myers and his 45-year-old mother, Michelle Myers of Tennessee.
The preliminary investigation by the Bismarck Police Department quickly led them to believe the incident was a murder-suicide. It is believed that Michelle Myers killed her son before taking her own life. While the specific details of how the deaths occurred were not immediately released, autopsies were ordered for both individuals to confirm the cause of death. The investigation did not lead to any arrests, as the sole suspect was also deceased.
