Jeffrey Kelly, a 47-year-old White man, died on May 23, 2015, after a violent domestic incident at a home in the Fern Acres subdivision in Mountain View, outside Hilo on Hawaiʻi Island. That Saturday morning, police were called to the residence at about 9:15 a.m. and arrived to find medics already treating him while he was unconscious. He was taken to Hilo Medical Center, but he died a short time later, and the case quickly turned into a murder investigation.
