In December 1881, Deputy Sheriff Abram S. "Abe" Johnson of Baldwin County, Alabama, was involved in a tragic incident that led to his death. The sequence of events began when his brother, Joel Johnson, was ambushed and shot while riding his horse near Sibley's Mill, a community northeast of Spanish Fort.
