In the small community of Crossroads, near Bay Minette, Alabama, a dispute that had been simmering for some time between two men who were once friends reached a tragic and fatal conclusion on the afternoon of Monday, January 25, 2021. Chase Devin Childress, Sr., a 29-year-old man, was shot and killed in what authorities believe was the first homicide of the year in Baldwin County. The incident unfolded around 4 p.m. in the vicinity of Whippoorwill Lane and Alabama 225.
