Town Marshal William A. Hendon of the Guin Police Department in Alabama met his demise on December 1, 1890. He was fatally shot while attempting to arrest a 17-year-old individual for drunk and disorderly conduct. The incident occurred as Marshal Hendon was performing his duties, and the young suspect, who came from a prominent local family, resisted arrest.
