Patrolman W.C. Wallace, a 23-year-old officer of the Birmingham Police Department, Alabama, lost his life in the line of duty on November 8, 1910. The incident occurred when Wallace was attempting to arrest a man for carrying a concealed weapon on 13th Street in Birmingham.
During the arrest, Wallace was shot by the suspect he was trying to apprehend. Despite the efforts to save him, Wallace succumbed to his injuries. The suspect involved in the shooting was subsequently apprehended.
