On February 8, 1917, in Birmingham, Alabama, attorney Walker Percy Sr., aged 52, was found dead in his home from a shotgun wound to the chest. The incident occurred in the upstairs trunk room of his residence on Arlington Avenue, where he had been cleaning his firearms in preparation for a planned hunting trip with his son, LeRoy.
