On August 3, 2009, 23-year-old Brandon DeWayne McGuire was fatally shot while standing outside a vacant home on Jesse Owens Drive in Birmingham, Alabama. Around 10:45 p.m., gunmen opened fire from between nearby houses, resulting in McGuire's death. Witnesses reported seeing two men fleeing the scene, carrying guns, and departing in a white SUV.
