In the late hours of a summer evening in Birmingham, Alabama, the life of 23-year-old Brandon DeWayne McGuire was tragically cut short. On August 3, 2009, at approximately 10:45 p.m., McGuire was standing outside a vacant home on Jesse Owens Drive when gunfire erupted from the shadows between nearby houses. Witnesses later recounted seeing two men, armed with guns, fleeing the scene before disappearing into the night in a white SUV.
