In the late spring of 1938, a sense of duty led to a tragic end for a dedicated law enforcement officer in Anniston, Alabama. Police Officer Hoyt Holder, a 42-year-old male, had been with the Anniston Police Department for just under two years, a relatively short time to make what would be the ultimate sacrifice for his community. On Sunday, May 22, 1938, Officer Holder confronted a murder suspect with the intention of making an arrest.
