On September 13, 1952, Deputy Sheriff Frank Harbison, aged 27, of the Walker County Sheriff's Office in Alabama, was fatally shot while conducting a search for illegal liquor. Accompanied by Deputy Herman Treece, Harbison approached a residence in Jasper, Alabama, suspected of housing illicit alcohol. During the search, both deputies were shot and killed.
