On February 8, 1988, Leon Shaw, a 33-year-old resident of Birmingham, Alabama, was involved in a fatal incident during a drug transaction. Shaw, who was on federal work release for a prior drug conviction, operated the Rose Boutique with his wife, Junatha Shaw. On that day, he met with Terry Dill and Jimmy Lee Dill (no relation) to facilitate a cocaine sale.
