On the night of September 1, 1993, the life of 34-year-old Ruby Lois Gosha was tragically cut short in her home in Troy, Alabama. A Black woman, she was shot in the head with a 12-gauge shotgun as she slept. The perpetrator was her former boyfriend and the father of her child, 33-year-old Holly Wood. Their relationship had soured, and just weeks before the murder, Wood had assaulted Gosha, injuring her hand so severely that she lost the use of two fingers.
