Gary Wayne Heath, a 25-year-old police officer, lost his life in the line of duty on June 14, 1994. At the time of his death, he had served only 10 months with the Greenville Police Department in Alabama.
Heath's tragic death occurred during an early morning incident. He was shot and killed by a suspect at around 4:00 am. The circumstances surrounding his death involved him interrupting a robbery attempt at a local convenience store.
