On March 8, 2002, 35-year-old Game Warden Jimmy Dean Hutto was fatally shot while assisting the Fayette County Sheriff's Department and other agencies in serving a narcotics warrant in the Wayside community of Alabama. During the operation, Hutto was struck in the lower abdomen by a bullet fired by the suspect, David Ray Mosher. Despite being hospitalized for nearly three weeks, Hutto succumbed to his injuries on March 25, 2002.
