In the summer of 2007, a grim discovery was made in Birmingham, Alabama, that would unravel a thread in a far larger and more terrifying story. On July 1st, the body of a woman was found, discarded next to a trash bin on a service road. She was identified as 44-year-old Lucille Marie Carter, though she was known to some as 'Greta.' The scene was disturbing; Carter was found nude, with a plastic bag taped around her head, and she had been fatally shot with a. 22 caliber weapon.
