On May 5, 2009, 46-year-old Barbara Allen Hill, a female resident of Birmingham, Alabama, was found deceased in her home on the 400 block of West Smithfield Terrace. She had sustained fatal gunshot wounds in an incident that was reported as a domestic assault. A graduate of West End High School in 1981, Barbara was actively pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Faulkner University and was employed as a medical assistant at Southview Medical Group, St.
Vincent's Hospital.
Authorities investigating the scene also discovered the body of her husband, Larry Hill. He was found with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The investigation led to the conclusion that the event was a murder-suicide, with Larry Hill being the primary suspect in Barbara's death.
As the perpetrator was also deceased, no arrests were made in connection with the murder. The case is now considered solved. Barbara Hill was a mother to two daughters, AnTrice Alexander and La'Netrice Hill. Her death was a shock to the community and those who knew her from her work and studies.
