On December 22, 2009, Robert Earl Littlepage, a 41-year-old man from Birmingham, Alabama, was fatally shot in what authorities later confirmed to be a homicide. The incident occurred in the afternoon, when police responded to reports of gunshots near the 100 block of 4th Avenue West in the Ensley neighborhood. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found Littlepage lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital, but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
