On January 29, 2012, a tragic event unfolded in Birmingham, Alabama, resulting in the death of 19-year-old Demetrius Sanford. In the early morning hours, Birmingham Police responded to reports of a robbery in progress at a residence on the 3100 block of Avenue S in the Ensley Highlands neighborhood.
