On June 5, 2020, 70-year-old Larry Pettway was fatally shot in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. near the intersection of 17th Street and Jefferson Avenue SW. Responding officers found Pettway lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound; he was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
