On March 8, 2014, in Lovetown, Alabama, 88-year-old Phyllis Dantzer and her husband, 91-year-old Lt. Col. (ret) Laurence L. Dantzer, were found deceased in their home. The Houston County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene, identifying the incident as a homicide-suicide. Reports indicate that Laurence Dantzer fatally shot his wife, Phyllis, before taking his own life.
