On April 23, 2014, 66-year-old Howard Arthur McKee, a retired Birmingham firefighter and two-tour Vietnam veteran, was fatally shot during a break-in at his home in Hueytown, Alabama. The incident occurred when two men forcibly entered McKee's residence, leading to a confrontation that resulted in his death.
