On October 25, 2020, just before midnight, Hueytown Police and Fire Departments responded to reports of a shooting in the 100 block of Church Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered two men with gunshot wounds. Both individuals were transported to a local hospital, where 27-year-old Marquel Deyarlo Toliver was pronounced dead. The other man was listed in critical condition.
