On a summer day in June 2014, the life of 38-year-old Kelena Annette Hicks was tragically cut short in the quiet community of Mount Vernon, near Fort Payne in DeKalb County, Alabama. On or around June 24th, Hicks was fatally shot inside her residence. The incident prompted an immediate investigation by local law enforcement.
