In the small, close-knit town of Flomaton, Alabama, a sense of shock and unease rippled through the community on August 12, 2017. Susan Conway Adams, a 61-year-old female, and her husband, Timothy Adams, were found shot to death inside their College Street home. The discovery marked the beginning of a long and arduous investigation into a crime that had stolen two of their own.
The initial inquiry by Flomaton police suggested the double homicide occurred during the course of a robbery, as items, including the victims' phones, were taken from the residence.

The suspects were identified as Jacqueline Bernice Rolin, 40, of Atmore; Jermain Lavelle Smith, 35, of Flomaton; and 40-year-old Kenneth Joe Lowery Jr. of Century, Florida. The arrests were the culmination of a multi-agency effort and marked a pivotal moment in the quest for answers that had haunted the town of Flomaton for over four years.
