On February 14, 2017, 15-year-old Nia Savage was fatally shot in her Mobile, Alabama, home. Authorities identified her boyfriend, 15-year-old Lakendrick Dyess, as a person of interest, noting he was the only individual present during the incident. The firearm involved had been stolen from an unlocked vehicle during a Mardi Gras parade.
