In the spring of 2016, the life of Shaun Andrew Milsap, a 30-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short in Jackson, Mississippi. On April 6th, Milsap was found dead, the victim of a violent altercation that left him with multiple injuries. The initial investigation by the Jackson Police Department quickly shifted from a standard death inquiry to a homicide case as the nature of his injuries pointed to a physical assault.
