On an otherwise quiet evening in Jackson, Mississippi, the life of 43-year-old Anthony B. Brown was violently cut short. On August 30, 2023, a group of individuals forced their way into a home, setting in motion a tragic chain of events that would end in homicide and kidnapping. The male victim, Anthony B. Brown, was shot and killed during the chaotic home invasion.
The perpetrators, a group that included the 23-year-old mother of a 10-month-old baby who was also in the residence, had
come with a sinister purpose. After fatally wounding Mr. Brown, they abducted the infant and fled the scene. The kidnapping triggered an urgent response from law enforcement, who immediately began a search for the missing child and the individuals responsible for the brazen and violent crime that had shattered the peace of the neighborhood.
The investigation quickly led to the identification of four suspects. The baby's mother, Jazmyn Johnson, was located and taken into custody a short time after the incident at a gas station approximately two miles from the scene of the crime. The infant was found with her, physically unharmed, and was safely recovered. As the investigation progressed, a second suspect, 21-year-old Keyonte Charleston, was also apprehended. Arrest warrants were issued for the two remaining suspects, 17-year-old Tristin Goodlett and 20-year-old Shanicholaus Taylor.
All four individuals face a litany of serious charges, including capital murder, armed robbery of an individual, kidnapping, and burglary of an occupied dwelling. The swift actions of the Jackson Police Department led to the recovery of the kidnapped child and the charging of those believed to be responsible for the death of Anthony B. Brown and the terror inflicted upon the occupants of the home that fateful night. The search for the remaining two suspects continues as the judicial process for those apprehended begins.
