In what was initially reported as a self-inflicted gunshot wound, 32-year-old Demarcus Harris was found with a gunshot wound to the head in a residence on Roslyn Avenue in Jackson, Mississippi, in December 2018. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries. The initial account of the incident, provided by his girlfriend, Jakia Thomas, suggested that Harris had taken his own life.
