Rahulkumar Patel, a 26-year-old man, was working the evening shift at the Troy Highway Package Store in Montgomery, Alabama, on July 13, 2014, when an ordinary summer night turned into a killing that has haunted the city for years. According to later law-enforcement and local news accounts, the robbery happened at about 9:11 p.m. at the store on Troy Highway.
