On July 9, 2015, 23-year-old Aldrick Jarreau Garrett was fatally shot while visiting friends on Scott Street in Talladega, Alabama. The incident occurred around 6:00 PM, leaving his family and the community in mourning. Garrett, the son of local poet and author Marshall Pope, was remembered for his vibrant personality and his ability to light up any room he entered.
