Branson Vinson was a 20-year-old Black man from Montgomery, Alabama. In the first hours of Sunday, July 26, 2015, the stillness of the city broke with reports of gunfire on Eagerton Road, and police and medics were rushed to the 300 block around 2 a.m.

When responders arrived, they found Vinson suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and what began as an emergency call quickly turned into a homicide investigation. The same burst of violence left two other adul ...
