On May 17, 2016, in Fultondale, Alabama, 40-year-old Andre Boyd was fatally shot during an altercation with his brother, 37-year-old Derwin Ray Boyd. The incident occurred at a public housing community, where the brothers resided together. Following the shooting, Andre Boyd was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Derwin Boyd remained at the scene and was subsequently taken into custody by law enforcement. He was charged with murder and held in the Jefferson County
