On June 2, 2016, Lonnie Rayford, a 48-year-old man from Mobile, Alabama, was fatally shot in what authorities later determined to be a targeted killing. Rayford was found lying in the street near his residence in the 1500 block of Lawrence Street in Mobile, shortly after midnight. Paramedics arrived at the scene, but he was pronounced dead from gunshot wounds shortly thereafter.
