On a Sunday evening in Montgomery, Alabama, the life of 34-year-old Chauncey Robinson, a Black male, was tragically cut short. On September 18, 2016, at approximately 7:50 p.m., police were dispatched to 37 Judge C. Price Street following a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Robinson suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to a local hospital for medical attention, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
In the immediate aftermath of
the shooting, the Montgomery Police Department launched a homicide investigation. However, the circumstances leading up to the fatal shooting remained unclear, and authorities did not publicly identify any suspects or make any arrests. The case, despite initial efforts, eventually grew cold, leaving Robinson's family without answers and his killer at large.
Years after his death, in June 2024, a renewed effort to solve the case was initiated when the Montgomery County District Attorney's Cold Case Task Force took over the investigation. In an attempt to generate new leads, a $5,000 reward was offered for any information that would lead to an arrest in connection with Robinson's murder. To this day, the case remains unsolved, and authorities continue to appeal to the public for any information that might bring justice for Chauncey Robinson and closure to his grieving family.
