Salathio Lockett, a 20-year-old from Mobile, Alabama, was tragically shot and killed on October 7, 2016, in what authorities would later determine to be a homicide. Lockett's death occurred in the early morning hours, around 4:30 a.m., in the area of the 100 block of St. Stephens Road, a neighborhood that had experienced prior incidents of violence.
