In the fall of 2016, a 25-year-old woman named Kaeyleah Lewis was found dead in her home in eastern Birmingham, Alabama. The discovery was made on the morning of Tuesday, November 1, 2016. Investigators determined that she had been shot and killed following an argument the previous night.

The investigation quickly focused on her 29-year-old boyfriend, Brandon Woodall. Evidence suggested that he had broken into her home before shooting her, which led to the charge against him being capital ...
