In the late days of March 2017, concern grew for 25-year-old Kordarrius Young, a Black/African American male from Montgomery, Alabama. He was last seen on March 21 at the Wind Creek Casino in Wetumpka. When he uncharacteristically ceased communication with his family, they reported him missing, prompting a search. A significant development in the case came on March 24, when authorities located Young's vehicle abandoned near Greensboro Drive.
The search for Young, however, would come to a grim conclusion.
On March 30, nine days after he was last seen, Young's body was discovered in the 800 block of Southlawn Drive in Montgomery. The discovery confirmed the family's worst fears, and the Montgomery Police Department swiftly classified his death as a homicide. The community was left to mourn the loss of a man remembered by friends and family as a kind and generous individual.
The investigation into Young's death moved forward, and authorities soon identified a suspect. On April 5, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force apprehended 19-year-old Ja'Quarius Brooks. He was subsequently charged with capital murder in connection with the death of Kordarrius Young. The case drew considerable attention, with Central Alabama Crime Stoppers offering a monetary reward for information that could lead to an arrest.
