On July 15, 2017, 59-year-old John Wesley Brown, a resident of Prattville, Alabama, was fatally shot by his brother-in-law, Joseph H. Huffman, during a dispute over land ownership. Huffman, who believed he was the caretaker of a particular tract of land, confronted Brown while he was cutting the grass on the property.
