In the late summer of 2019, a domestic dispute in a Prattville, Alabama mobile home community tragically cut short the life of 34-year-old Jason Alan Bobyarchick. A senior at Auburn University at Montgomery and a member of the Honor Society, Mr. Bobyarchick, a white male, was fatally shot in his residence at the Candlestick Park mobile home community on August 29, 2019. The incident was the first homicide in Prattville that year.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they discovered Mr.
Bobyarchick with a fatal gunshot wound. Also present at the residence was 43-year-old Sara Melissa Fish, who was identified as the shooter and was in a relationship with the victim. She was taken into custody and subsequently charged with one count of murder in connection with his death.
In December 2021, Sara Melissa Fish stood trial for the killing of her boyfriend. After hearing the evidence, a jury convicted her of the lesser charge of manslaughter. The verdict indicated that the jury believed she acted recklessly, leading to Jason Alan Bobyarchick's death. Manslaughter is classified as a Class B felony in Alabama, carrying a potential prison sentence of two to twenty years. In April 2022, she was sentenced for her role in the fatal shooting.
