On the evening of August 5, 2017, Bessemer Police responded to reports of a shooting on the 300 block of 12th Street South. Upon arrival, officers found 47-year-old Kevin Dewayne Yelling lying on the floor with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
