In the quiet community of Cullman, Alabama, a tragic accident claimed the life of 16-year-old Jackson Jack Samuel Lambert. A junior at Cullman High School, the young man's life was cut short on the evening of Monday, October 23, 2017, at his home in the Fox Meadow subdivision. The male teenager was an avid hunter and was known to be very particular and experienced with firearms.
On that fateful evening, at approximately 8:27 p.m., a call was made to the Cullman Police Department
reporting a possible accidental gunshot. When officers arrived at the residence, they discovered Jackson with a fatal, self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators learned that he had been on a social media call with a friend when the incident occurred, with the friend witnessing the tragic event.
The investigation conducted by the Cullman Police Department and the Cullman County Coroner's office concluded that the shooting was a 'horrible, horrible accident.' According to authorities, Jackson had been handling a handgun when it discharged. They believe he may have mistakenly thought the firearm was not loaded. No arrests were made, and no suspects were named, as the death was ruled accidental. The community mourned the loss of the young man, with additional counselors being brought in to support the students and staff at Cullman High School.
