On October 23, 2017, 16-year-old Jackson "Jack" Samuel Lambert of Cullman, Alabama, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident occurred around 8:27 p.m. at his residence, where Lambert was handling a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson pistol while on a FaceTime call with a friend. Believing the firearm was unloaded, he inadvertently discharged it, resulting in a fatal head injury.
