On February 15, 2018, a tragic incident occurred at Western Hills Mall in Fairfield, Alabama, resulting in the death of 59-year-old Anthony "Tony" Alberigi, the mall's longtime manager. As Alberigi was outside the shopping center he managed, a confrontation between two groups escalated into a shootout in the mall's parking lot.
