In the spring of 2018, the life of 25-year-old Shanika King, a Black or African American woman from Montgomery, Alabama, was tragically cut short. On Monday, May 28, 2018, a dispute escalated into deadly violence, and King was shot multiple times in a residential area of the city. Despite the immediate response of emergency services, her injuries proved to be fatal, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
