In the late afternoon of Sunday, May 26, 2024, tragedy struck in Montgomery, Alabama, when 40-year-old Shayla Jones, a female resident of the city, was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. in the 900 block of South Union Street. First responders arrived to find a scene of violence, with another woman also suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
