In the early afternoon of January 6, 2019, the life of 29-year-old Jermaine Lee was tragically cut short in what would become the first homicide of the new year in Mobile, Alabama. On that Sunday, at approximately 12:25 p.m., police were called to the 1300 block of Athey Road following a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers found Jermaine Lee suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency services transported Lee to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he
succumbed to them shortly after arrival. The male victim's death was quickly ruled a homicide, prompting an immediate and thorough investigation by the Mobile Police Department. In the course of their investigation, authorities were able to identify a suspect in the shooting.
Later that same day, the investigation led to the location and arrest of 31-year-old Jarante Williams. Williams was taken into custody by the Mobile Police Department and subsequently charged in connection with the death of Jermaine Lee.
